Welcome to Link Organizer. This privacy policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your personal information when you use our web application and browser extension.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Account Information

When you create an account, we collect:

  • Email address
  • Encrypted password
  • Account creation date

2.2 Link Data

When you save links, we store:

  • URL, title, and description of saved links
  • Tags and categories you assign
  • Screenshots (if enabled)
  • Creation and modification timestamps
  • Visibility settings (public/private)

2.3 AI Features

When using AI tag recommendations:

  • Page content sent to Google Gemini API (if AI features are enabled)
  • API usage statistics (request count, word count)
  • Your API key is encrypted and stored securely if provided

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and maintain the Link Organizer service
  • Authenticate your account and ensure security
  • Store and organize your saved links
  • Generate AI-powered tag recommendations (when enabled)
  • Improve our services and user experience

4. Data Storage and Security

  • All data is stored in a SQLite database on your server
  • Passwords are hashed using Argon2
  • API keys are encrypted before storage
  • Authentication uses secure session tokens
  • Data is only accessible by authenticated users

5. Third-Party Services

5.1 Google Gemini AI

When AI features are enabled, page content is sent to Google's Gemini API for tag recommendations. This is optional and can be disabled in settings. Google's privacy policy applies to data sent to their API.

5.2 Screenshot Service

Screenshots are captured on your server using Playwright. No external services are used for screenshot generation.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal information to third parties. Your data is:

  • Stored on your own server instance
  • Only accessible by you and authorized administrators
  • Not shared with external parties except as required by law

7. Public vs. Private Links

  • Private links: Only visible to you when logged in
  • Public links: Visible to all visitors (authenticated or not)
  • You control the visibility of each link individually

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access your personal data
  • Correct inaccurate data
  • Delete your account and all associated data
  • Export your data (backup feature)
  • Disable AI features at any time

9. Browser Extension

The browser extension:

  • Only accesses pages when you explicitly save a link
  • Stores server URL and authentication token locally
  • Does not track your browsing history
  • Requires explicit permissions for each feature

10. Data Retention

  • Account data is retained until you delete your account
  • Links are stored indefinitely unless you delete them
  • Archived links remain in the database until permanently deleted
  • AI request logs are stored for usage statistics

11. Children's Privacy

Link Organizer is not intended for use by children under 13 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "Last updated" date.
